These systems, which include mission-critical enterprise-wide services, typically require 24x7 operations in order to support global operations and a combination of online access and offline processes, reports or backups, with an emphasis on systems for which the Senior Engineer is designated a principal role by senior staff. Principle systems for Position 2 are expected to include, but are not necessarily limited to, services running on Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, 2003, and Vista based platforms. For those aspects of Widevine’s infrastructure under his care, the Senior Engineer will be expected to demonstrate consistently the ability and responsibility to reliably:
- Direct and/or perform both routine and non-routine systems administration tasks for daily operations of moderately complex-to-complex production systems or services, failure of any of which may have a significant impact on business goals. Participate in development and peer review, and implementation of technical support standards, controls and procedures. Partner with other technical staff for the effective operations of mission-critical production systems, including maintenance of up-to-date systems documentation.
- Self-initiate and prioritize systems engineering/administration duties for self or team, including determining and defining the course action necessary to obtain the desired result and advise senior department staff. Serve as an escalation point for staff in the identification and correction of moderately complex-to-complex computing systems and applications problems. Coordinate with other staff or vendors.
- Direct and/or perform the collection, analysis, and reporting of operational data for use in maintenance, performance tuning, and capacity planning for future enhancements/upgrades.
- Recommend possible new systems for development/acquisition and oversee installation, configuration and maintenance of major software and hardware components as approved by departmental management. Partner with other IS staff in the development of and compliance with standards for systems in the data centers and elsewhere, including networking standards, rack layouts, console or monitoring systems, or other tools used in daily operations and maintenance.
Project Planning and Implementation (20% of time)
Apply senior level engineering expertise in the planning, analysis, design, and implementation of new or evolving information systems or services.

Perform impact and/or risk analysis of how a change may affect other enterprise systems or applications. Develop written project proposals.
- Organize and provide project management and direction over multiple projects, primarily those related to mission-critical systems or services whose failure may have a significant impact. Determine and develop approaches and strategies for implementations that may require innovative solutions to unique and complex problems. Develop written project plans.
