System Implementation Manager — Japanese projects

Job Description:
Plan and implement installations of security computer solutions in Asian markets, specifically Japan. This position is responsible for all aspects of implementation of Widevine’s solutions according to detailed project requirements. Experience in implementing complex systems with several vendors or partners a plus. This position requires significant international travel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for execution of System Implementation planning and projects. Responsible for successful customer and partner implementations. Provide status of assigned projects to Engineering and Services Management and Executive Management.
  • Establish and maintain positive customer relationships throughout assigned engagements.
  • Create and lead the creation of project documents (eg. Project Plans, customer architecture, security recommendation, procedures, integration documents).
  • Manage cross-functional teams including personnel from Technical Communications, Test Engineering, Product Engineering, Marketing and Professional Services allocated to the delivery of assigned products.
  • Manage personnel issues for assigned staff. Recommend, initiate and execute personnel actions, such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures. Train and orient new staff. Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist staff in solving work problems. Initiate or suggest plans to motivate staff to achieve work goals.
  • Provide leadership for implementation projects. Define / approve deliverables and priorities. Define, revise or approve procedures and work schedules. Issue written and oral instructions. Assign duties and may examine work / observe staff to ensure conformance to expectations, policies and procedures.
  • Review workload and schedules, resource (human and equipment) availability and allocate staff and equipment to projects. Interface with managers from other departments (eg. Test Engineering, Technical Communications, Product Marketing) to acquire resources necessary to meet objectives.
  • May perform or assist team in performing system implementation duties.
  • Integrate complex systems with 3rd party components.

Requirements:

  • Fluent in Japanese and English
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 8 years prior experience in software development, preferably broad software and network implementation background.
  • Minimum 2 years prior experience in a field service related role.
  • Minimum 2 years project management
  • Prior experience in Telco, Cable or Satellite based video delivery markets.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of system integration tools and techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of software and network security.
  • Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting tools and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, listening, facilitation, verbal).
  • Excellent customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage, lead, empower and motivate others.
  • Ability to perform potentially unpleasant acts (eg. employee discipline, discharge) in a professional, constructive manner.

    Job Context:

    • Based at Corporate HQ in Seattle
    • Travel greater than 50%.
