Software Test Engineer

Department: Engineering
Reports To: QA Manager
FLSA status: Exempt

Key Responsibilities:

Develop test documentation, including test plans and test cases, execute test cases, and maintain testing results
Participate in the implementation of quality controls, design, code reviews, usability tests and performance analysis
Work closely with software developers and Production team in assuring the quality of releases of Company products
Evaluate and test new and modified software programs and software development procedures used to verify that programs function according to user requirements, conform to established guidelines and perform quality assessment audits for other departments
Work intensively with Product Managers and Software Engineers coordinating testing efforts and technique
Implement Test Plans and create and maintain test data
Write and track defects
Review text for accuracy, readability, grammar, and spelling

Qualifications:

College degree in computer science or equivalent area of study or equivalent work experience
4 years experience in black box software testing
Experience working on a release schedule and getting a product to market

Requirements:

3+ years experience testing skills in one of the following domains; 1) multi-platform environment, 2) network protocols, or security. Plus basic (1+ years) skills in another of the three domains
2+ years experience with Linux/UNIX command line environment/li>
1+ years experience with SQL database testing
Understanding of testing methods and the software development cycle
Excellent problem solving, analytic skills and resolution skills required
Ability to work with minimum guidance
Experience in functional, compatibility and regression testing
Excellent organizational and communication skills (oral, written, interpersonal)
Familiarity with standard business software and the QA process
Must have an experience with Manual Testing techniques

Preferences:

1+ years experience testing of Conditional Access or Digital Rights Management solutions
2+ years experience with TCP/IP networking
Experience with PERL, Python, Shell scripting, C++ and Java
Experience with performance and/or load testing
RedHat and/or network related certifications
