Widevine Technologies Launches Marketing and Business Development Teams

International and North American Outreach Initiatives Build Momentum and Interest, As Demand for Streaming Media Encryption and Security Builds

Seattle, WA, November 21, 2000 – As demand for streaming media security and copyright protection on the internet grows, Widevine Technologies™ has launched international and North American business development initiatives dedicated to building awareness and use of several products on the market and in development - the first of which is Widevine Cypher™.

"We have a growing, well integrated team of experienced and talented individuals marketing and selling Widevine products to a broad range of customers," said John Beyer, Chief Executive Officer. "As we continue to launch Widevine products, including Widevine Cypher, we are focused on building revenue and broad business relationships in the U.S. and international marketplaces."

The first product of the company, Widevine Cypher, encrypts streaming media on the internet, so valuable entertainment, broadcast and streaming data cannot be stolen or pirated. A patent pending technology, Widevine Cypher works for several streaming media players, including Real Player, Windows Media and Quicktime. In addition to ensuring total control of streaming media, copyrighted and proprietary content, Widevine Cypher has client side security detection features and a private communication channel embedded within a data stream. This channel allows for secure bi-directional communication for purposes of micro-billing, advertising, quality-of-service monitoring, and other services. Widevine Cypher works through a client side software shim and is transparent to the end-user.
