Widevine Technologies Launches Partnership Program, Expanding Marketing of Widevine Cypher™ and Widevine Mensor™

New Partner Relationships Empower Widevine's Resellers and Partners to Address The Communications Security and Network Technology Demands of Their Customers

Seattle, WA, March 27, 2001 – Two communications security and network technology products -- Widevine Cypher™ and Widevine Mensor™ -- are now available through companies participating in the Widevine Technologies Partnership Program.

Program members form partnerships with Widevine Technologies to help sell, consult and maintain products and services for Internet communications and network security. The Program is available to companies worldwide.

"Security is a vital concern of corporations that rely on major information technology infrastructures, the Internet and private networks for their mission-critical communications and streaming," said John Beyer, CEO of Widevine Technologies. "Widevine's communications security products empower our customers to secure and to protect their valuable proprietary and confidential streaming media content. The Widevine Technologies Partnership Program combines our breakthrough technology with partner companies whose customers are demanding security tools like Widevine Cypher and Widevine Mensor. This program dramatically expands the marketing scope of our products, and promises to allow the technology to serve the needs of an even greater number of companies."

The Widevine Technologies Partnership Program helps enterprises gain speedy access to new communications technology. Recent independent research commissioned by Widevine Technologies demonstrates that more than one-fifth of information technology professionals decline to implement streaming media into their communications network because of security concerns.

The complementary relationship of the Widevine Technologies Partnership Program includes sales training, product marketing, brand support, joint product development, security seminars, and technical support.

Widevine Cypher is a communications security product that provides "encryption on the fly"™ for streaming media on the Internet and private networks. Among its capabilities are:

  • Complete transparency on both the server and client end, allowing customers to continue using the hardware and software they already own.
  • Full compatibility with all current standards-based streaming media technologies, including RealNetworks®, Windows Media™, QuickTime™ and MPEG.
  • "On the Fly" DES-X encryption gives each stream its own encryption key for maximum security and allows streaming of live events and real-time broadcasts.
  • Client-side security and monitoring prevents streams from being captured by network stack hacking, screen-scraping, and other common techniques by shutting down streams automatically when such attacks are detected.
  • Modular client shim design allows easy development and instant deployment of new encryption algorithms, enhanced client side security technology, custom back-channel data communication and much more.

Widevine Mensor serves the copyright protection needs of enterprises and other high-value content copyright holders.
