InfoLibria and Widevine Technologies Join Forces To Enable Controlled Delivery of Encrypted Rich Media Applications

Seattle, WA, December 3, 2001 – InfoLibria, Inc., a leading provider of Internet infrastructure for rich media application delivery and content distribution, today announced an agreement with Widevine Technologies to provide corporations with greater control and security for their media-centric applications. Combining the high performance content distribution and delivery technology from InfoLibria with Widevine's anti-copying and "encryption on the fly" solutions, customers now have the benefits of additional security, digital rights management and secure communications capabilities when communicating with customers and employees, or collaborating with partners.

InfoLibria's products transform an existing IP network, whether an intranet or extranet, into a highly customizable content delivery network operating either within or outside of the corporate firewall. The company's platform enables corporations, government agencies, and educational institutions to improve e-learning, employee productivity, and overall business processes with streaming video training, corporate communications, and network-based distance learning.

"In addition to the built-in security that our infrastructure provides, many customers are looking for additional features to guard the intellectual property rights of the content they place on InfoLibria-enabled networks," said Ian Yates, president and CEO of InfoLibria. " For those customers, InfoLibria can seamlessly incorporate Widevine's technologies into our products to ensure their business-critical applications will be encrypted and delivered to the customers who are authorized to use them."

Delivering an end-to-end solution
InfoLibria's Content Commander and MediaMall products (E-Class, M-Class and G-Class) work together to provide a cost effective and easy-to-deploy solution that supports rich media distribution, request routing, delivery, tracking, reporting and billing. The technology provides users with the industry's most intuitive and easy-to-use interface for administering and monitoring all content services, applications and network components running in a content delivery network.

Widevine Cypher is a patent pending communications security product that enables shared encryption for streaming media on the Internet and private networks. Among its existing and planned capabilities are:

  • Complete server and client transparency to prevent disruption of existing hardware and software.
  • Full compatibility with standards-based streaming media technologies, including RealMedia, Windows Media, QuickTime and MPEG.
  • Client-side security and monitoring prevents network stack hacking, screen-scraping and other security breeches, by automatically shutting down streams when attacks are detected.
  • Modular client shim design allows easy development and instant deployment of new encryption algorithms, enhanced client side security technology, custom back-channel data communications and much more.

"Dangerous and costly security breaches happen every day at corporations around the world, leaving proprietary and valuable content and information vulnerable," said John Beyer, CEO, Widevine Technologies. "We are proud to join with InfoLibria to address the security demands of their customer base with a powerful, reliable and cost-effective security solution, Widevine Cypher."
