Widevine® Showcases Content Protection Innovations at Globalcomm2006

Technology demo shows how the “digital hole” can be secured on PCs and PC-based consumer electronics devices

Seattle, Wash. May 31, 2006 – Widevine® Technologies, the leading provider of comprehensive downloadable content protection and digital forensics for video operators worldwide, will demonstrate Widevine Cypher® PC with Digital Copy Protection at Globalcomm2006, June 4-8, Booth #23055, McCormick Place, Chicago.

Widevine Cypher PC extends the content protection capabilities of the industry leading Widevine Cypher Suite to include PC and PC-based consumer electronics devices. PCTV, the delivery of interactive broadcast and video-on-demand television to PCs and other PC-based consumer electronics platforms, represents the next step for video operators looking to expand their revenue and service domains beyond the traditional set top box. Widevine will demonstrate how the technology protects content delivered to PCs and consumer devices after it has been decrypted, prior to on screen display, in what is commonly known as the “digital hole”. By automatically monitoring, detecting and responding to piracy behaviors, Cypher PC effectively stops unauthorized recording and distribution of premium content thereby preventing the efforts of sophisticated pirates who know how to take advantage of this hole. This uniquely enables video operators to securely extend interactive broadcast and video-on-demand television to PCs and other consumer electronics devices that are otherwise vulnerable to content theft.

Also, Widevine will highlight its integration with a range of video products including demonstrations from leading technology partners Siemens Home Entertainment, Scientific Atlanta, Entone, SeaChange, Kasenna and Amino.
