Widevine® Showcases Content Protection Innovations at BroadcastAsia & CommunicAsia 2006
Technology demo shows how to secure the “digital hole” on PCs and PC-based consumer electronics devices; Widevine to speak on the steps to acquire, license and secure Hollywood content for a winning IPTV deployment.
Seattle, Wash. June 12, 2006 –Widevine® Technologies, the leading provider of comprehensive downloadable content protection and digital forensics for video operators worldwide, will demonstrate Widevine Cypher® Digital Copy Protection (Cypher DCP™) at BroadcastAsia, 19-23 June in the US Pavilion, Booth #7G4-08 in Singapore.
Widevine Cypher Digital Copy Protection extends the content protection capabilities of the industry leading Widevine Cypher Suite to include PC and PC-based consumer electronics devices. PCTV, the delivery of interactive broadcast and video-on-demand television to PCs and other PC-based consumer electronics platforms, represents the next step for video operators looking to expand their revenue and service domains beyond the traditional set top box.
Widevine will demonstrate how the technology protects content delivered to PCs and consumer devices after it has been decrypted, prior to on screen display, in what is commonly known as the “digital hole”. By automatically monitoring, detecting and responding to piracy behaviors, Cypher DCP effectively stops unauthorized recording and distribution of premium content. This uniquely enables video operators to securely extend interactive broadcast and video-on-demand television to PCs and other consumer electronics devices that are otherwise vulnerable to content theft.
At CommunicAsia, Widevine will speak on current market dynamics, Hollywood studio requirements and the steps to license, acquire and secure premium content for IPTV deployments–the key to differentiating service and generating new revenue opportunities for IPTV deployments–on June 22 at 1:55 p.m., Broadcast Track.
Also, Widevine will highlight its integration with a range of video products including set-top boxes, middleware platforms and video servers including systems from leading technology partners Amino, Entone, Hwacom, Pace, Scientific Atlanta, SeaChange and Thomson.
Widevine is deployed at more than 90 customers globally including Chunghwa Telecom of Taiwan. To meet growing customer demand and momentum in the region, Widevine opened a sales office in Singapore earlier this year.
