Widevine® Ranked #1 Worldwide in Content Protection by ABI Research
Seattle, Wash. August 1, 2006 –ABI Research’s new content protection report ranks Widevine Technologies, the leading provider of comprehensive downloadable content protection and digital forensics for video operators worldwide, at the top of the latest Telco TV DRM Vendor Matrix.
The Vendor Matrix is an analytical tool developed by ABI Research to provide a clear understanding of vendors' positions in specific markets. Vendors are assessed by ABI Research on the important parameters of "innovation" and "implementation" across several criteria, unique to each vendor matrix, such as customer wins, contract awards, global reach, market share, patents, R&D spending, time to market and first movers, among others.
“Widevine’s worldwide deployments, strong intellectual property portfolio and its comprehensive conditional access and digital rights management technology earned it the number one ranking among other content protection vendors. Additionally its development of innovative technologies such as watermarking and digital copy protection for PCs and PC-based consumer electronics strengthen its position to meet emerging operator needs,” said Mike Wolf, Principal Analyst of Broadband and Multimedia Research at ABI Research.
“Operators deploying or planning IP video services want a content protection solution that is proven in the marketplace and can meet their current and emerging security needs. With more than 100 deployments internationally we are pleased to be recognized by ABI for our achievements and earn its top ranking,” said Brian Baker, Widevine’s CEO.
The report, Conditional Access and DRM: Focus On CATV, DBS and IPTV Platforms, discusses the emergence of downloadable CAS and DRM and how each of the leading vendors and suppliers is positioned to take advantage of these emerging technologies.
