Widevine Showcases Content Security Innovations at IBC 8-12 September 2006, Amsterdam, Booth #4.151
Technology demos show watermarking & securing the “digital hole” on PCs and PC-based consumer electronics devices; Widevine’s CTO to speak on the future of content protection
Seattle, Wash. August 9, 2006 –Widevine® Technologies, the leading provider of comprehensive downloadable content protection and digital forensics for video operators worldwide, will showcase two technology demonstrations and speak on emerging trends in content protection for IP video at IBC 2006.
Technology demos
In addition to the industry leading Widevine Cypher content protection suite, Widevine will demonstrate two new technologies designed to meet emerging requirements for content security: Watermarking and digital copy protection on PCs and PC-based consumer devices.
- Cypher PC with Digital Copy Protection: Widevine will demonstrate how this technology enables operators to protect premium broadcast and video-on-demand content from theft in the “digital hole” when distributed to PC and PC-based devices. Cypher DCP effectively stops unauthorized recording and distribution of premium content with automatic monitoring, detecting and responses to piracy behaviors. This uniquely enables video operators to securely extend interactive broadcast and video-on-demand television to devices vulnerable to content theft.
- Watermarking: Widevine will demonstrate device level watermarking of live broadcast and video-on-demand content on PCs and industry leading set top boxes with its partner Cinea, a Dolby company. Widevine Mensor™ 2.0 watermarks content during video delivery at the content owner, aggregator and operator locations and on consumer devices. It enables content owners and operators to track where, when and to what device content is delivered to enable individual identification of PayTV pirates. Demonstrations will be presented throughout IBC at Widevine’s booth (4.151) and Dolby’s booth (2.218).
Widevine Speaks at Content Production Theme Day: Sunday, 10 September at 2 p.m.
Widevine’s Chief Technology Officer, Glenn Morten, will speak during the content protection track on the future of content protection. The discussion will expand on market dynamics that will enable IP video operators to generate new revenue opportunities and to compete against traditional cable and satellite video operators.
Infosession: Acquiring, Licensing and Distributing Content for IP Video, 11 September, Booth 4.151
Moderated by Anette Schaefer, Director Broadband and Media, Yankee Group Europe, the panel will address acquiring, licensing and distributing content for IP video--including content owners’ requirements today, emerging requirements and operator perspectives on the impact licensing has on creating compelling service offerings. Panelists include TVN Entertainment, European service operators and other industry leaders.
