Widevine® Showcases Content Security Innovations at IPTV World Forum Asia, Sept. 27 – 29 in Shanghai, Booth #73

Technology demo secures the “digital hole” on PCs and PC-based consumer electronics devices; Widevine to speak on content security for IP Video

Seattle, Wash., Sept. 25, 2006 –Widevine® Technologies, the leading provider of comprehensive downloadable content protection and digital forensics for video operators worldwide, will showcase digital copy protection and speak on content security and its role in delivering compelling customer offerings at IPTV World Forum Asia 2006 in Shanghai.

Widevine Cypher Digital Copy Protection extends the content protection capabilities of the industry leading Widevine Cypher Suite to include PC and PC-based consumer electronics devices. The delivery of interactive broadcast and video-on-demand television to PCs and other PC-based consumer electronics platforms, including the Apple iPod®, represents the next step for video operators looking to expand their revenue and service domains beyond the traditional set top box. This technology secures both the recent Windows Media® and iTunes® hacks.

Widevine will demonstrate how the technology protects content delivered to PCs and consumer devices after it has been decrypted, prior to on screen display, in what is commonly known as the “digital hole”. By automatically monitoring, detecting and responding to piracy behaviors, Cypher DCP effectively stops unauthorized recording and distribution of premium content. This uniquely enables video operators to securely extend interactive broadcast and video-on-demand television to PCs and other consumer electronics devices that are otherwise vulnerable to content theft.

Widevine’s Vice President of Marketing, Matt Cannard, will speak on how content security enables service operators to deliver compelling service offerings to its customers as part of the panel Balancing Consumer Freedom with Content Security on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 3 pm.

Widevine is deployed at more than 100 customers globally including Chunghwa Telecom of Taiwan. To meet growing customer demand and momentum in the region, Widevine opened a sales office in Singapore earlier this year.
