Widevine Ranked #1 in Content Protection by ABI Research for Third Consecutive Year
Key market traction in telco, internet, cable and mobile security critical to leadership position
SEATTLE, WA, July 24, 2007 –ABI Research’s newly released content protection report ranks Widevine® Technologies, the leading provider of downloadable content protection, forensic watermarking and digital copy protection solutions, at the top of the latest IPTV DRM Vendor Matrix for the third year in a row.
ABI uses a selection of different criteria to rank the vendors. The Vendor Matrix is an analytical tool developed by ABI Research to provide a clear understanding of vendors' positions in specific markets. Vendors are assessed by ABI Research on the important parameters of innovation and implementation across several criteria such as customer wins, global reach, market share, patents, strategic partnerships and entirety of solution, among others.
Widevine excelled in the diversity of client base, support of all major consumer platforms and video formats, technology advancements and research and development.
“Widevine’s continued development of technologies to secure multiple platforms across a wide variety of formats is impressive,” said Mike Wolf, director of Digital Home Research at ABI Research. “Their growing intellectual property portfolio, which serves as verification of their technology, as well as the company’s worldwide deployments comprising a diverse client base, has earned Widevine the number one ranking among content protection vendors for the third year in a row.”
“Operators deploying or planning video services want a content protection solution that is proven in the marketplace and can meet their current and emerging security needs. With more than 125 deployments globally in managed networks and open internet delivery, we are pleased to be recognized by ABI for our achievements and, once again, earn its top ranking,” said Brian Baker, Widevine’s CEO.
