Widevine Showcases Multiplatform, Multiformat Content Protection at Broadband World Forum Americas
Widevine demonstrates comprehensive content security solutions & PCTV at ITM Expo, Booth 505, São Paulo, Brazil, Dec. 3–6
SEATTLE, November 20, 2007 — Widevine Technologies, the leading provider of downloadable conditional access, digital rights management and digital copy protection solutions for 130+ video operators worldwide, will demonstrate solutions to enable secure delivery of linear broadcast, VOD, streamed media and file downloads at Broadband World Forum Americas in São Paulo, Brazil.
Widevine will demonstrate:
- Multiplatform, Multiformat Content Protection: Widevine Cypher® enables telco, cable, satellite and internet service providers to protect content delivery over any network to a wide range of consumer devices. Now in its fourth generation, Cypher scales to meet the needs of the largest telcos while offering the flexibility to monetize distribution to STBs, PCs and mobile devices. It offers patented post-decryption copy protection to prevent unauthorized recording and distribution of multimedia content—a key concern of Hollywood studios.
- IPTV to PCs: Widevine Cypher® for the PC enables secure premium content distribution to PC and PC-based consumer devices running a virtual set top box. Widevine will demonstrate one such solution, using INUK Network’s igloo virtual set top box, which enables operators to deliver television to PCs and Macs with full PVR capabilities.
Widevine will speak on DRM’s role in enabling consumer freedoms:
DRM: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Wednesday, Dec. 5, 10:45-12:15 pm
Matt Cannard, Widevine’s VP of Marketing, will address how the proliferation of digital media and Internet TV enables video operators and service providers to monetize the delivery of digital media and evolve new services, thus affirming the need for DRM.
