Digital Latin America & Widevine® Join Forces to Secure Premium Content for PayTV Operations in Latin America

Widevine’s content security enables premium content acquisition & secure delivery to set top boxes, PCs and mobile devices for pay-TV providers across Latin America

SEATTLE, January 29, 2008 — Digital Latin America, the leading provider of digital content and applications for Latin America and Widevine Technologies, the only provider of multiformat, multiplatform content protection and watermarking solutions, today announced its partnership to secure premium content for digital pay-TV operators throughout Latin America. Widevine will encrypt and watermark content that DLA delivers to 23 countries to fulfill content owners’ requirements for licensing high-value videos and popular programs.

Digital Latin America delivers premium, high value content via satellite and IP to 100% of the MSOs in 23 countries and to 51 systems across Latin America. It’s the only provider in the region that delivers video on demand and pay-per-view services with blockbuster movies from major Hollywood Studios including Disney, MGM, Paramount/Dreamworks, Warner Bros. and NBC Universal, as well as international studios.

“With digital piracy an ever present threat to high-value, popular commercial media, it’s critical that we deploy the most effective systems to protect and track content distributed across our network,” said DLA CEO Antonio Barreto. “Widevine’s proven content security solutions, global deployments and strong relationships with Hollywood Studios and content aggregators will enable us to continue acquiring premium content for our growing list of digital cable and IPTV operators throughout Latin America. Widevine’s ability to secure content delivered in multiple formats to PCs, Macs and mobile devices is critical to operators’ growing needs to expand their businesses with new services that customers want.”

“Widevine is pleased to work with DLA and be the trusted provider of conditional access, DRM and watermarking solutions designed to affordably meet Hollywood Studio content protection requirements and enable licensing of premium content,” said Mike Petrocelli, Widevine’s Senior Vice President of Global Sales. “This demonstrates the high importance that broadcasters, Hollywood studios and copyright holders internationally have placed on content protection as new markets and distribution channels emerge.”

Widevine’s comprehensive content protection, watermarking and digital copy protection solutions enable operators to acquire and license premium studio content and, through unique patented technologies, reduce capital and operational expenditures.
