Widevine® to Demonstrate Multiplatform, Multiformat Content Protection at MipTV 2008, Cannes, France
Widevine expands revenue potential for digital media delivery to PCs and portable media players
SEATTLE, March 26, 2008 — Widevine Technologies, the leading provider of downloadable conditional access, digital rights management and digital copy protection solutions, will demonstrate solutions to secure delivery and consumption of premium content for content owners, service providers and video operators at MipTV, April 7-11, 2008, at the Palais des Festivals, Stand #G3.28.
Widevine will showcase:
- Multiformat, Multiplatform DRM: Widevine Cypher® secures Internet, telco and hybrid (DTT/cable/satellite) multimedia delivery to set-top boxes, PCs and portable players. This European and Hollywood Studio approved solution enables video operators to license and acquire premium content for delivery across any network, including hybrid IP networks.
- Digital Copy Protection: Widevine’s post-decryption digital copy protection solution adds a necessary additional layer of security on PC-based consumer devices. Widevine will demonstrate how it protects content from being pirated by hundreds of tools available on the internet. Designed to monitor, detect and respond to piracy after content has been decrypted, Widevine prevents digital media piracy, thereby retaining copyrights, ad-based revenues and other pay media business models.
Widevine secures digital media delivery for over 160 web properties and 130 managed network operators worldwide providing content owners, service providers and video operators. Widevine’s “Switzerland of DRM” approach for securing multimedia content offers the flexibility and security required to deliver premium content to the widest possible audience.
In contrast to traditional technologies which restrict content purchase and usage to specific devices, video formats and online services, Cypher for Digital Media secures the delivery and consumption of all major video formats on all major platforms including PCs, Macs and Linux-based platforms.
