Sofia, Bulgaria, March 25, 2009 — Vestitel BG today announced they have selected Widevine Technologies, the only provider of multiplatform, multiformat DRM and CAS, for protecting IPTV service delivery throughout Bulgaria. Vestitel provides a hosted IPTV service to regional operators who rebrand the service for their subscribers. Widevine Cypher® enables Vestitel to encrypt premium content offerings once, while passing rights control to downstream operators and keeping content persistently secure to the subscriber device.

Vestitel turned to Widevine as their needs for secure end-to-end video distribution, storage and playback emerged. Widevine Cypher encrypts content once and enables it to be securely delivered anywhere Vestitel and its IPTV partners choose. Vestitel currently offers over 70 broadcast channels and additional interactive services. As consumer demand for entertainment on retail connected devices grows Vestitel can utilize their existing Widevine solution to expand secure distribution to other platforms in the future. Vestitel’s services are currently available to over 100,000 homes in Bulgaria.

“We understand the importance of meeting consumer demand with service offerings that are compelling to users,” said Alexander Vaglarov, CEO of Vestitel. “With Widevine’s downloadable conditional access and DRM, we can finally offer partnership IPTV services on a wide range of consumer platforms using a single content protection solution. Our vision of bridging services from the STB to the PC and onward to mobile platforms is now possible.”

Industry-leading Widevine Cypher provides the only multiplatform, multiformat DRM and conditional access system that enables interactive television service delivery to popular consumer platforms. Widevine’s renewable DRM and CAS client enables operators to keep up with consumer demands for watching content on their device of choice, in the home or on the road.

“Service expansion and secure delivery to a wide range of devices has differentiated Vestitel’s business,” said Doug Light, Sr. VP of Global Sales and Business Development at Widevine. “Widevine continues to showcase why it remains the preferred provider of DRM and CAS when flexibility, control and the ability to bridge services to retail consumer platforms is required.”
